Arrange places, stays and activities

Open Edit trip → Planning and expand a segment to work on that part of your holiday. Forms usually open in a popup. Save applies the change; Cancel, Close or Escape leaves the saved plan alone.

Start of trip travel sits above the first segment and starts collapsed. Its summary shows the saved route or planning status and any review warning. Use its chevron to open the travel summary and Plan/Edit travel action.

Green success messages disappear after 30 seconds. Use their × button to close them sooner and reclaim the space. Warnings and errors stay visible.

Use the Phase tab to explore Dream, Plan and Do and change your trip's phase. Use the other tabs for Trip details (including travelers and reminders), Map & calendar, Budget, Bookings & payments, and Packing. On phones, scroll the tab strip to find all seven. This browser remembers the last tab for each trip and user. Opening a tab reloads its saved information; switching tabs keeps unsaved edits and does not save them. If a refresh fails, the message explains that displayed information may be out of date and offers Retry.

For a trip with saved segments, places and plans come before core holiday details and travelers. Schedule takes you to that workspace. Existing panel choices are remembered; new trips keep their getting-started guidance.

In segment, accommodation and itinerary popups, identity and dates stay prominent. Open Estimate, Property and contact details (or Website), Segment image or Notes for optional information. Their summaries indicate saved content. Closing a section does not remove its values. Save and Cancel stay at the bottom of the popup while you scroll; errors reveal the section that needs attention. Save trip details and Save budget settings apply only their respective forms and documented effects, not drafts open elsewhere.

Accommodation and Itinerary sit side by side on larger screens and stack on smaller screens. Map and Travel sit underneath them.

The segment's Map, Accommodation, Itinerary and Travel sections can each be collapsed. Map starts closed; open it to see numbered activities grouped by day. Select the map to explore it in a larger popup. Grey markers are activities without a date. Only saved, linked locations can appear on the map.

Choose Edit notes, the second option in the segment's ⋯ menu, to change Display or Research notes without opening the full segment editor. Research notes stay in editing views.

Add or change a segment

Use Add segment, or the segment's ⋯ menu to edit it. Choose Place, Rail journey or Cruise. Select a place search result when you want it linked to maps and location information; a typed name alone is not a verified map location.

In Plan, set the start and duration. Duration is elapsed days: arriving on 12 December for three days means leaving on 15 December. New segments default to zero days, which allows a same-day visit; increase the duration when you decide to stay longer.

Use the grip or Up/Down arrows to reorder segments. In Dream this changes the outline order. In Plan it can move dates and the plans inside each segment. If a move affects saved transport, a warning asks you to confirm removing the linked journeys. Cancel keeps the saved order and transport. Review the resulting schedule, especially when there are gaps or protected dates.

The confirmation covers journeys to or from places whose positions change, including travel at the start or end of the trip. Accommodation and itinerary entries are kept, although their dates may move. Unaffected transport stays saved; plan the removed journeys again after settling the new order.

Pin date protects a date from automatic scheduling changes. It is not a booking. Deliberate edits still need your review; the app reports changes that cannot fit around protected dates.

Fix segment gaps

If changes have left the trip schedule tangled, choose Fix segment gaps in Edit trip in Plan. It needs a trip start date and appears only when there are segment gaps, overlaps or uncovered time before the first segment. Overnight flights count toward coverage; missing accommodation alone does not trigger it.

For one incorrect date or journey, edit that item first. Fix segment gaps is a whole-trip reset: it removes all saved transport, including old flight records, and joins the remaining segments in their current order from the trip start. Cancel leaves the saved trip unchanged.

Accommodation and itinerary entries stay saved, with their dates moving together. Stay lengths and notes are kept. Pins on dates that move are cleared. Saved purchases and booking history remain in the budget, and flight documents remain with the trip. You will need to plan transport again and check the revised dates against your bookings. Missing accommodation and undated activities still need your own planning.

Record accommodation

Research and book with your chosen external service, then use Add accommodation to save the name, location, website, dates and useful notes.

Optional location search appears above the name when available. Choosing a place fills a blank name, but keeps a name you have already entered. You can still save a manual entry without linking a location.

Check-in includes that night; checkout does not. A three-night stay therefore ends on the fourth calendar date. Still to plan points out nights needing accommodation. Details to correct identifies contradictory information.

From Plan onward, add an estimate per night or for the entire stay. Recording the estimate does not make a reservation. See budgeting and bookings.

Add activities

Use Add to itinerary in the segment's Itinerary section. Add a title, optional website and location, and notes. Once the trip is in Plan, choose a date and either:

  • Time of day, such as Morning, Afternoon or Evening.
  • Exact time, with a start and end. Select Ends next day for an overnight activity.

You can record rest time or a free afternoon as an activity too; a linked place is optional. Overlap warnings help you review the day but do not check opening hours, travel buffers or whether your plans are feasible.

Use Save an idea when you have not decided to put something in the schedule. See ideas and notes.

Add cruise ports and sea days

A Cruise offers Ports and sea days. Add the numbered day and a port, or choose At sea. Day 1 is departure day. Several ports can share a day, and a port can appear on successive days for an overnight visit.

An omitted day does not mean At sea. Check the schedule with the cruise provider, including any difference between ship time and local time.

When saving needs attention

Correct validation errors in the open form and try again. If someone else has changed the trip, reload and review their saved changes before resubmitting. If a save cannot be confirmed, use Check saved trip before retrying so you do not create a duplicate.

Deleting a segment can remove its contents. Read the confirmation. Bookings, payment history or journal entries may need attention before removal is allowed.

Deleting a dated segment shortens the trip by moving the later segments and their plans earlier. Existing intentional gaps remain. Conflicting pinned dates block the deletion so you can review them first. Check travel connected to the deleted place; it is retained for review rather than automatically rerouted.
