Plan your first trip
Start with an outline. You do not need every hotel, date or activity decided before creating a trip.
Create an outline
- Open your trips and choose the action to create a trip.
- Give it a name. Choose Start date if you know when you're going, or Season if your dates are flexible, then fill in your choice.
- Confirm your home currency if asked. It becomes the trip's reporting currency.
- Save, then choose Add your first place or journey or Add segment.
- Add your places in the order you expect to visit them. Give each an estimated duration if you know it.
A segment is a part of your holiday: a stay in a place, a rail journey or a cruise. You can visit the same place more than once. The major destination is derived from your saved places.
New trips start in Dream. Collect accommodation and activity ideas without assigning their calendar dates. Use Inspiration for possibilities you have not chosen yet.
Use Dream while you are still trying different places and route orders. Move to Plan when you are ready to schedule them. You can still reorder later, but moving places with saved transport requires confirmation to remove the affected journeys.
Creating trips requires an editing licence with available capacity. If you cannot create one, check your licence.
Turn the outline into a dated plan
Open Edit trip → Phase, select Plan in the phase band and choose Move to Plan. Select a start date if you have not already supplied one.
The app dates your segments in order using their durations. A missing duration becomes one day; an explicit zero remains a same-day segment. It gives undated activities an initial place where they fit. Check the result: activities that cannot fit remain unscheduled, and multiple hotels may need their dates set separately.
Segments added after you move to Plan default to zero days. Increase the duration for an overnight or longer stay; this differs from the one-day fallback for missing durations when first moving the outline into Plan.
From Plan, use Schedule, Budget, Bookings & payments and Packing to prepare the holiday. Moving to Plan does not book anything or mark costs as paid.
Use Do near departure
Move to Do becomes available three calendar months before the saved start date. Choose it when you are ready to use the trip while travelling. You can still edit the plan and use the journal.
Opening a phase explanation does not change the trip. Phase changes are deliberate actions for an Owner or Planner with an editing licence.
