Prepare your packing lists
From Plan onward, open Packing lists or use the Packing task link in Edit trip. Shared lists help everyone see what is needed and who is responsible.
Start a list
Create a named list and add items, categories and quantities. Add notes for details such as a charger type or laundry plan.
Choose Add item beside the list you want to use. Pick a suggested category or type a new one; it is added when you save. Use Manage lists to create more lists.
In Edit trip, Manage lists opens a small popup just for your lists. Select a list to rename it, or choose New list. Delete list asks you to confirm removing the list and every item in it for everyone sharing the trip.
Needed by chooses whose personal checklist includes the item. Choose everyone or specific people; leaving it unspecified also includes everyone. The quantity is per person: three pairs of socks means each selected traveller packs three. Responsible traveller is a planning note, not someone who marks for the group.
Only people marked as travelling appear in the choices. Choose All travelers or specific people: selecting one clears the other. All travelers includes people who join the travelling party later. If someone stops travelling, their old assignments remain until you edit the item; the form explains what saving will remove.
To reuse an item, open its ⋯ → Copy action. Review the pre-filled details and save it as a new item in the same list. The original stays unchanged and the copy starts unpacked. Cancel leaves the list unchanged.
Owners and Planners with editing permission edit the lists. Registered members marked as travelling, including Viewers, can mark their own items packed. Owners and Planners can also help travelling companions, including guests without accounts, even if the helper is not travelling. This does not give guests access to the app. The responsible traveller note does not grant permission to help.
Reuse a template
In Edit trip, choose Import template to browse available starter lists or upload a packing CSV. Review suggested items, quantities and possible duplicates before applying them.
A likely duplicate starts unchecked. You can deliberately add it separately or combine its quantity into a matching unassigned item when offered. Combining retains existing notes and packed progress.
Templates are a starting point, not a complete list for your destination. Check the weather, activities and your own needs. Later changes to the template do not change your saved trip list.
Track packing
Categories and their items appear alphabetically in both Edit trip and your packing view. Marking an item keeps your expanded categories and unpacked filter so you can continue where you left off. When the last unpacked item is done, you will see All your items on this list are packed.
Your checklist and progress are separate from everyone else’s. Use Mark packed to mark your quantity ready, or Unpack to undo it. Collapse categories or filter to unpacked items to focus on what remains. An editor cannot reduce the quantity below an amount already packed by a traveller.
To help a companion, choose their name in Packing for above the list buttons, then select Show checklist. Review the name beside the progress total before marking items. Mark packed and Unpack change only that person's progress; they do not mark the item for everyone or change who needs it. Choose your own name, labelled (you), to return to your checklist. A helper who is not travelling chooses a companion before any personal progress is shown.
Switching lists or filtering retains the selected person. The progress total counts fully packed items on that person's selected list, including items hidden by the unpacked filter; quantities within a row show units. If another edit makes your update stale, reload and check the selected person's progress before trying again. If a connection failure leaves the result uncertain, check the checklist before repeating the action.
An in-app trip copy retains packing progress, so check it before relying on the new list.
The packing view is for reviewing items and marking them packed. Switch lists with the tabs. Use Edit trip to add, edit, copy or remove items, manage lists or import a template. For whole-trip backups, see copy and export.
Personal checklists start unpacked when upgrading from the old shared-progress list. Trip exports omit personal progress along with traveller assignments.
